26

School has started and life has been running pretty smoothly.  I've got a whole new batch of kids and a brand spakin' new [to me] class I'm teaching this year.  It's loads of fun and is so far keeping me on my toes.  Who knew that the difference between freshmen and sophomores is so vast?

The first week of school also marked my 26th birthday.  I find that my birthday seems to just come and go (I guess that's just aging) especially with the first day of school always so close to it.  It doesn't help too that I had my biggest race since my disaster in May to look forward to that weekend.  Race day was Sunday the 11th and my birthday was on Thursday the 8th.  What else says "Happy 26th" other than waking up early to hit the bike and going to sleep without any cake (who am I kidding? Of course I went to get some froyo)?

I don't have much to report on the birthday and school front besides what I've already said,  but I do have a ton to report on my race.  Too many words to write out right now, and I also have no pictures yet from my support crew (of one).  If you think I'm making up a bunch of excuses to not write my race report yet, you're right.  I've got some reading to do on world history, and a video to watch on the settlement of Jamestown and Plymouth (for the second time in two nights).  Hopefully I'll get around to it this weekend between froyo, a bike ride, a little 1st birthday party, then a race for the bf in Philadelphia for the RnR 13.1.  Maybe since I have a rest day on Sunday I'll spend the time I would have spent sweating and instead write? We shall see.

Enjoy Friday!  And the last few days of summer....how depressing
