Progression

2013 has been moving along nicely, minus the road bump I hit today when I felt ill and went home sick from school....before the school day even started.

Fortunately for me I woke up at 3:20 to get a run in before morning practice, but not fortunately for me I spent the time to do my hair and makeup only to be drooling all over my pillow a few hours later. I've always been one to grit my teeth and push through sickness, but today I just didn't think I had the energy to make it through my classes. I'm glad I listened to my body because the slumber I got when I came home was just splendid.

I spent my last day of 2012 skiing in the 'mountains' of Pennsylvania at Blue Mountain. I had forgotten how much I loved to be on the slopes since I hadn't actually skied since my sophomore year of college when my grandparents used to live in Breckenridge, Colorado. I had visions of me falling and injuring myself, but fortunately skiing is very much like riding a bike. I didn't miss a step. Hopefully I'll be back on the slopes over President's Day Weekend as well.
2013 Sparkler

New Year's day was supposed to be a rest day, but to my surprise Chris put in a special swim set to ring in the New Year on Wednesday the 2nd (the day we went back to school) of 100x100 so I switched the two days and tackled it when I knew I had the time to do so. It looks, and sounds, a lot more daunting than it actually is. I probably should have, and could have, swam it a bit faster and closer to a true base for me but for pete's sake, it was 10,000 yards!

Peppermint Stick gu is fantastic.
I swam at the high school since I knew that I could have music (we have an underwater speaker) and no interruptions. The one thing I don't have access to at the pool is the lights, so by the end of my set as it was getting closer to and past 5pm I was swimming in the dark. I had to switch my goggles to another pair I have that have no tint to help but by the end I was just lucky I didn't crash my feet on the gutter. When I came out of the pool almost three hours later, I had 7 missed calls and numerous other text messages from my family. Seems as though some people had thought I was plucked out of the pool and kidnapped.

HS Pool
The rest of the week is much the same daily grind. My nausea from this morning has all but disappeared, but there is already a cold that has moved in. I'm hoping that I can kick it quickly because I hate being sick. Saturday is a huge all-day long swim meet at the high school. It is quite exhausting and I was really sick for that last year which made a long day even longer. Plus, I have training to do!
