Releasing stress over the past few days has been an enjoyable experience. Having free afternoons, and a free Saturday morning without swim practice has been so delightful.
We got a fair amount of snow on Saturday morning from Nemo, and I was sleeping like a baby through the entire storm. I could hardly keep my eyes open at 7:30pm and so I went to bed at 8:15 and didn't wake until close to 8am on Saturday. It was nothing short of amazing.
After biking + running (while watching my steps), I hoofed it on down to Baltimore to celebrate the splendid birth of this beautiful lady:
We all had a grand time, and I very quickly reversed any good amount of sleep I had gotten by going to bed way too late on Sunday morning and waking up at an equally early hour in the daytime. I made it home in a timely manner, but saved my long run for the familiar streets of NJ and was lacking serious motivation to pound asphalt. Fortunately, my mind didn't get in the way of my legs as I had one of those runs where everything 'clicks' and I hit the numbers I wasn't sure I'd get. It was very refreshing and mind cleansing.
Chris added a 10k time trial onto my schedule on Thursday and I am desperately hoping that I can find the legs I had on Saturday for all 6.2 miles and go hard. Pushing myself is not something I do well for a long distance when I don't have others to help me. I put out a call on Twitter for some help. Still waiting for applicants. Don't everybody come at once!
This week will be a good one as we've got a much needed long weekend coming up for our dear old Presidents of past. We don't have school Thursday - Monday and I plan on getting in a lot of quality rest, relaxation, reading, and friend time. Possibly even a day on the slopes if I'm lucky.
